With the dawn of a new decade now here, resolution time comes hand in hand with the celebrations of each New Year. After the customary overindulging during the festive season, such as plenty of face-stuffing along with rounds and rounds of excessive drinking, rather than spending the first week into the New Year filled with guilt, why not devise some encouraging beauty resolutions instead.
We know that every New Year prompts new goals and commitments that we aim to strive toward, but many of these are broken before the first month is even over. This year the plan is to get out of that rut, set positive, realistic goals and make them happen. Consider it a new beginning - a New Year, which features a revamped beauty regime to compliment. Does that sound like a plan? Ok, here are my aspirations for 2011, I hope that by sharing my own personal objectives you too will be motivated to head down the right path and set your own resolutions so we can all be one-step closer to looking even more fabulous and beautiful than ever.
Have a regular facelift
Instead of shelling out thousands of dollars on cosmetic procedures, I will opt for a topical, non-surgical alternative that will plump and firm my skin and smooth out lines while improving the overall tone and texture. This is an inexpensive, safe and natural answer to younger looking skin.
I like: simplicite results lift gel or y natural 600 smooth anti age serum
Sleep my way to a healthier complexion
Sure, I always use a moisturiser at night but I never knew why it was essential to apply a specific night cream. However, nighttime is when our skin renews itself, so the benefits of a rich, nourishing night cream to help replenish my skin with antioxidants and excess moisture lost during the day, will leave my complexion healthier, more vibrant and glowing with radiance.
I like: clarins super restorative night wear cream or payot creme de reves repairing night crème
Say no to facial scrubs, yes to body exfoliation
Rather than scrubbing away at my face with physical facial scrubs, containing grainy substances that are too abrasive for my sensitive skin, I will target the tougher, rougher skin on my body. Exfoliating not only sloughs away dead skin cells and dry, flaky skin it also helps fight cellulite, prevents ingrown hairs, stimulates circulation for a more even skin tone, allows for better absorption of moisturisers as well as prolonging the life of fake tans. Not to mention my skin will be softer, smoother and healthier looking.
I like: nat. sea salt smoother or pier auge heart of spices - body scrub
Moisturise after every shower
I often neglect the skin on my body and don't give it the TLC it deserves, by diligently applying a daily moisturiser. If I use a moisturiser straight after showering, while my skin is still damp, it will help in retaining moisture, keeping it locked in as well as allowing all the goodness of the ingredients to better penetrate my skin. Additionally, by including this step religiously, as part of my daily skin care ritual, I will not be inclined to forget and will therefore benefit by having skin that is soft, supple and healthy.
I like: dermalogica ultrarich body cream or asap revitalising bodymoist
Treat my feet
In summer, I wear lots of slip on shoes and sandals, which are not overly flattering if my feet are not presentable. I will be remedying my overworked feet with regular foot soaks, exfoliation and nightly treatments using an emollient skin care balm for extremely dry skin. By also popping on a pair of socks the balm can work its magic overnight and I will have smooth, soft feet with no cracked heels. These balms are also ideal for hands, cuticles or other dry areas like elbows or knees.
I like: shizen salve all over balm or skinceuticals primacy hydra balm
Groom my brows
As the saying goes your eyebrows are the frames for your face, giving your eyes definition and lift while leaving your face more shaped, balanced and youthful in appearance. I have always had a tendency to overpluck my brows, leaving them thin, sparse and uneven. Its time to invest in a good brow shaping kit that will help me achieve perfectly defined arches.
I like: glo minerals brow collection or bareMinerals brow finishing gel (to set, define, tint and control brows)
Get super nourished, shiny hair
By using only good quality products that maintain my hair's health and keep it hydrated will help stamp out years of abuse, which has caused my lengths to become dry and damaged. Along with the obvious being a regular trim, applying a revitalising hair treatment will make sure my hair is in tip-top shape with heaps of moisture and an incredible shine.
I like: moroccanoil restorative hair mask or evo mane prescription protein treatment
Last year I sufficed extremely well and stuck with all but one of my beauty resolutions, which is respectable, I believe. This year I plan to go one better, stick to my guns and just hang in there. How about you, what are your goals for 2011? I would love to hear from you, if you are planning any beauty resolutions too!
From now its time to hang up the beauty editor hat while I relax and spend some quality time with the family. This blog will be on annual leave until February 2011 so I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2011.
Hope to see you all again really soon! ...Mel
